Integrated environmental monitoring at the regional level

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to find out whether integrated monitoring is being carried out at the regional level in New Zealand. The approach to this study involves: 1. determining the_ environmental monitoring carried out at the regional level and the · agencies· involved, 2. developing a framework based on integrated envi.ronmental monitoring that reflects · the state of the regional envir􀁲mment, 3. using the data from (1) in the framework developed in (2) to identify any gaps where monitoring should be undertake􀁿, determine whether integrated monitoring is taking place at the regional level, and recommend any practical measures to overcome these deficiencies.
