From time to time the opportunity will be taken to publish material originating elsewhere in New Zealand with which the College is associated and which could not otherwise be made available.A method of plotting and contouring grid surveys using a digital computer is described. Contour positions in each square element of a grid survey are determined by linear interpolation between the sides of the square. The resultant shape of ground surface is curvilinear, equivalent to a relaxation net between the sides which connect the four corner levels. Application of the method to surveys for flood irrigation design and other purposes is described, and a copy of the computer programme is given in the Appendix.enLincoln College.
