Over 100,000 trees have been planted to date. The site is adjacent to the Nikau Scenic Reserve which is highly ecologically significant, and it is in the flight path of a unique Westland black petrel colony. Research investigating the potential indicators of ecological restoration success at the PCRP was undertaken over two years.
