The framework consists of two models, on characterising the ability of a site to supply recreation experiences, and one characterising the nature of the demand for experiences. The importance of qualitative data is recognised. Demand and supply are integrated by a set of guidelines for valuing recreation experiences. The framework is then applied to a real situation in examining the recreation potential of the island of Wellington Harbour (Somes, Ward, Mokopuna and Taputeranaga Islands). In this way the framework is tested for its effectiveness, and insights into the management of the harbour islands are gained. The islands are found to be capable of supplying a unique set of experiences in the Wellington Region. The importance of clearly stated management objectives is emphasised.enplanningoutdoor recreationWellington Harbourrecreation planningAn outdoor recreation planning framework with a case study of the islands of Wellington harbourThesisDigital thesis can be viewed by current staff and students of Lincoln UniversityANZSRC::160402 Recreation, Leisure and Tourism GeographyANZSRC::120504 Land Use and Environmental PlanningQ112846928
