Lincoln University has been involved with this leaders programme since 1979 when it was launched with a grant from the Kellogg Foundation, USA.This paper is a broad overview of the current shipping industry in New Zealand, aimed at a readership not directly involved in the sector itself. The paper starts with a section setting out historical developments in New Zealand shipping, in order to put the current scene into context.
