The report firstly covers the implication and the development of the management system and then goes on to briefly describe the history of New Zealand's fishing industry, from when the first legislative act was passed at the begin of the century, through to the problems in the early 1980s and why the Quota Management was introduced. This project gives the reader a guide of how the quota system operates including tables and maps to illustrate the areas and fish species controlled by the system. Also covered are several important issues, for example the Maori Fisheries, Overseas Ownership and some of the fishers requirements.
