Abstract
The emphasis is made showing examples of "poor" hardware use and effective use so that an increased understanding of the topic will benefit all concerned. It covers aspects of seating, tables, litter bins, plant containers, drinking fountains, barbeques, vandalism, barriers for people, cycles and vehicles and colour principles. To critically analyse and evaluate the use of specific hardware items in urban parks and reserves in New Zealand. To make recommendations in certain instances for the improvement environmentally, aesthetically and in the practical sense for the use of certain hardware amenities.
