dc.description.abstract | Objectives of this study: To determine current recreational activities and uses in James MacGregor Memorial Kowhai Park. To determine potential recreational opportunities. Introduction Kowhai Park is a major asset to the city of Wanganui . It is a large riverbank reserve with many trees planted throughout, and a well known imaginative childrens playground. The playground is the main attraction of people to the park, but once the people are there, they are free to enjoy the whole park. The park offers a wide range of informal recreational activities for people of all ages and especially young families. These activities range from actively pursuing the enjoyment of each piece of play equipment to light entertainment received from supervising or watching the youngsters or from passively strolling through the beautiful wooded areas to jogging along the stopbanks or from racing around the kiddi kart track to putting around the mini golf course. | en |
