Botrytis cinerea is the causal agent of 'Early Botrytis rot' and 'Common Botrytis rot' of grapes. The objective of this dissertation was to screen a range of microorganisms for their potential to protect the primary infection court - in particular dead or dying flowers. In conclusion this work has identified some promising bacterial isolates for the suppression of B. cinerea sporulation on grape tissue and further research is needed to determine their potential as biological control agents of 'Early' and 'Common Botrytis rot' under field conditions.en
