Abstract
This dissertation intends to examine the current situation existing in other New Zealand parks and similar overseas parks and then to consider the ideal situation for the Urewera. Emphasis will be placed on examining:
1. The desirability of having a proliferation of buildings within the Urewera National Park.
2. Managerial and administration problems.
3. Social problems relating to communities living in remote areas.
Finally, planning proposals and recommendations for the future development of a park headquarters and facilities area will be presented.
