Abstract
This concluding chapter considers the wider lessons of the New Zealand case for our understanding of the repercussions of student loan debt. I suggest that the ‘myth’ of student debt is less a question of whether there is a student debt crisis, and instead that student debt is an inevitable part of being a student in the twenty-frst century. The chapter concludes by refecting on recent moves in New Zealand to reform student tuition fees and debt, and how the issue of student loan debt has been framed in public debate.
