Abstract
“Shifting landscapes in-between times” addresses the fundamental relationship of landscape architecture to time. Jacky Bowring and Simon Swaffield focus on the devastating 2011 earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand to highlight the “enigma of design in a truly dynamic landscape” and the struggle of the landscape architect to navigate timescales, natural processes, and the inevitable uncertainty of the physical world.
