Abstract
Chemical weed control, often used in conjunction with mechanical methods, plays an important part in modern agriculture. However, features such as the phytotoxicity to crop plants, effectiveness against weeds, the effect of the soil on the activity of the compound, and the effect of the herbicide on non-target organisms need to be known. This study was undertaken to determine the effect of one such compound, trifluralin, on two processes carried out by soil micro-organisms.
