Abstract
Two case studies are used to demonstrate approaches to modeling chemical transport and chemical transformation in the vadose zone. To protect groundwater from pesticides, a general modeling approach is found to enable easier coding of complex chemical transformations. Transportation through the vadose zone can be easily modeled in terms of uneven drainage intervals, and the model structures are suited to monitoring and management.
