Abstract
In Pakistan, Karachi, Hyderabad, part of Nawahsheh and Tharparkar districts are in the windy zone. Canal water in Hyderabad, Nawahsheh and Tharparkar districts is available, but not in the proportion as it is required. The major part of Tharparkar district is not under canal irrigation. People have to wait for rain to satisfy their domestic and livestock water requirements. In areas where wells are sunk, a lot of labour is required to take water out of them. Therefore, it seems to be better and quite reasonable to install windmills in this area. In New Zealand, windmills are being used for livestock as well as for house gardens. But it still requires more study to find better and efficient use of windmills.
