Abstract
The Agribusiness and Economics Research Unit (AERU) at Lincoln University with the support of research partners under the Unlocking Export Prosperity from the Agri-food Values of Aotearoa New Zealand research programme has estimated willingness-to-pay {WTP) values for selected credence attributes in in agri-food products in key export markets to New Zealand (Tait et al., 2020a-f; 2021). The included countries were: China, Japan, the United States of America (USA), and the United Kingdom {UK). The included commodities were: lamb, kiwifruit, wine, apples, beef and dairy.
This research aims to assess the value of price premiums in international markets to New Zealand agricultural producers, particularly for credence attributes in agri-food products. This is achieved using partial equilibrium trade modelling to evaluate the impact on producer returns from world markets by 2030.
This report is structured as follows. The next chapter will outline the WTP values from different countries and products that are then used to determine the trade modelling analysis. The second chapter outlines the structure and coverage of the Lincoln Trade and Environment Model (LTEM) used for the modelling analysis. Chapter 3 presents the results from the modelling analysis, and finally Chapter 4 summarises conclusions from the modelling.
