In preparing this practical dissertation, the author has used his own experiences in the Raglan farm advisory district, as a demonstration of the contribution farm advisors can offer. A descriptive background of the district is provided for the initial six years when the adviser was maintaining the Department's broad and general service to 800 holdings. This is then followed by an introduction to the Intensive Farm Advisory Project 1963, before the author gives a detailed account of his methods and reasoning in implementing this approach for the 400 store sheep farmers in his district. The progress made in Raglan and the other four selected districts during the first and critical policy forming year is then discussed with overall conclusions and suggestions then made for an intensive farm advisory service for New Zealand.en
