Argentina is one of the five major wool producing and exporting countries in the world. Because of the traditionally large proportion of coarser wools in the Argentinian wool clip, wool exports from Argentina have historically been considered a major competitor with New Zealand exports. It is logical, therefore, that the New Zealand wool industry should take interest in, and be watchful of, Argentinian wool production, consumption and exporting trends. The current report represents part of a programme aimed at fulfilling such a need by examining recent trends in the wool industry of Argentina.en
