Abstract
When Norway donated US$1 billion to Brazil to help slow down Amazon rainforest destruction in 2008, the world sat up and took notice.
Brazilian Government figures show that 355,124 km2 (35,124,000 hectares) of rainforest had been damaged or destroyed between 1990 and 2014.
