Abstract
A radar system is developed using a portable microwave vector network analyser, and an off-the-shelf broad-band horn antenna. The radar is mounted on a track that permits the radar to be accurately positioned along a grape vine. The microwave reflection measurements from the network analyser are first converted to radar signals. Subsequently, an image of the grape vine is obtained by triangulating the radar signals from each position along the track. Measurements obtained in the 2 to 6 GHz band are selectively used to build images.
