Abstract
This chapter develops an understanding of the international and domestic visitors' experiences in relation to the traditional presentations and commercial offerings at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. It is argued that, despite a lack of interactivity, the museum management has been able to respond to different types of visitors that have different needs. Hence, the museum space is a place for learning; social interactions; remembering historical and personal events; connecting visitors with the familiar and reinforcing their pre-existing knowledge; and settings for aesthetic, recreational and restful experiences.
