Abstract
This project was initiated by an ecology field trip to Mount Cook during which the plans for the development of the Mount Cook village were outlined to the group present. In the light of a cursory
observation of the area there appeared to be an imbalance between the plans and the environment in which it was intended that they be implemented.
The majority of the work in this project took the form of library research into the work of geologists in the area of the Seally and Ben Ohau Ranges and the terraces at the feet of these ranges.
