Abstract
The objectives of this major design are: (i ) to determine the potential uses of trees in the rural landscape, and the reasons for developing these in a multipurpose manner; (ii ) to determine the tree species suitable for multipurpose uses and the various habitats in rural Canterbury; (iii) to select a Canterbury farm site suitable for multipurpose tree planting; (iv ) to design on this site an aesthetic and functional environment which explores the potential of multipurpose use of trees.
