dc.description.abstractIn society, today almost everybody has used the internet and by extension the World Wide Web. Over the past 30 years a lot of work has gone into infrastructure creation for the World Wide Web. A common piece of infrastructure for the World Wide Web is web servers. Requests generated by users are then sent to the webserver which decodes it for the routing mechanism. When used appropriately it is nearly transparent to a profiler, when it isn’t it can slow down a website significantly. The routing mechanism can have many different designs, and this research compares + benchmark comment implementations regarding performance. Tree based approaches are found to offer the best performance with least overhead compared to regular expression engine based approaches.en
