Abstract

The draft Order to be made under the Severe Weather Event Recovery Legislation Act 2023 proposes to reclassify certain activities (defined as ‘rural recovery works’) which would otherwise require a resource consent, as permitted activities under the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) if the landowner meets the notification requirements and complies with the permitted activity standards. This report provides an analysis of the draft Order and whether it is necessary or desirable.
